MATERIAL TESTING

Materials testing includes characterization, research and development, process evaluation and development, yield improvement, monitoring of chemical processes, failure analysis, physical and electrical properties, quality assurance, reliability testing, production control, formulation, competitive product evaluation, nanometric measurements and more.

Materials Testing Laboratory And Analysis

Material test laboratories provide routine and non-routine testing for a wide range of materials. Many laboratories provide comprehensive interdisciplinary characterization, data interpretation tools and expertise in the development, processing, characterization and testing of diverse and advanced materials. Analytical laboratories provide advanced, routine and non-routine materials testing for a diverse range of chemicals, composites, metals, polymers and many other materials. Labs are provide analytical services expertise for scientific and materials engineering research and troubleshooting/quality problems for a wide range of industries and disciplines.

Tests Are Done In Material Testing

The most standard materials testing, as well as specialized tests designed to the customer's requirements, such as:

1- Chemical analysis and identification

2- Mechanical tests

3- Heat treatment & Metallography

4- Corrosion test and environment simulation

5- Non-destructive tests

6- Surface test

Chemical Analysis & Identification

The numerous analytical devices required, such as: XRF, XRD, and EDX. Chemical analysis & identification covered for the following materials:

1- Aluminum alloys

2- Copper alloys

3- Carbon, Alloy & Stainless Steels and

4- Unknown Material Identification

Mechanical Tests

Perform standard mechanical tests, as well as specialized tests designed to the customer's requirements.

Mechanical tests include:

1- Tensile testing

2- Compression testing

3- Bend testing

4- Fatigue testing

5- Creep testing

6- Torsion testing

7- Hardness testing: Rockwell, Brinell & Vickers

8- Charphy impact testing

9- Wear resistant testing

Heat Treatment and Metallography

Many methods are use in Heat Treatment and Metallography. Classical metallurgical techniques as well as the latest preparation methods are available. Advanced analytical tools such as image analysis and SEM are used in evaluations. In Heat Treatment and Metallography many tests are include:

1- Macrostructure & microstructure examination

2- Particle analysis, such as: identification and size determination

3- Grain size measurement

4- Quantitative image analyzing, such as: Phase fraction, and Porosity

5- Plating or coating analysis and thickness

6- Fractography and surface topography

Corrosion Test and Environments Simulation

A variety of tests designed to simulate the effects of various environmental conditions on components and finished product with regard to its corrosion resistance, such as:

1- Sacrificial anode evaluation

2- Earth/electrolyte resistivity

3- Polarization testing

4- Salt spray testing

Non-Destructive Test

This tests includes most standard non-destructive testing supported by the NDT certified personals, such as:

1- Ultrasonic testing (UT)

2- Dye Penetrant testing (PT)

3- Magnetic Particle testing (MT)

4- X-ray Radiography testing (RT)

Surface Test

There are many methods in Surface Test. The methods are - Tribology, Abrasion, Adhesive strength, Scratch test, Friction, Wear test.

Tribometer serve to characterize friction and wear behavior of materials. They are the basis for tribologically oriented development of materials and lubricants and for quality assurance. With these Tribometer materials as well as lubricants can be tested under complex and application orientated tribological test conditions.

Computer aided friction and wear measurements can be performed according to all normal ASTM and DIN standards.

The test procedure is to judge abrasion resistance of paintings and similar coatings as well as of print colours. The tester can be used for all kinds of surfaces which are exposed to smooth mechanical loads, e.g. friction with clothes or paper of office equipment, control units, or painted edges or buttons.
The abrasion resistance can be tested on all nearly flat surfaces.

Scratch Tester for Plastic Surfaces to check the resistance of plastic surfaces. Scratch Tester "Artificial Finger-Naill", it has to be simulated how touching of fingernails may cause scratches on a dashboard or on plastic glass surfaces. The RPG friction tester is used for determining the friction behavior of a plastic foil relative to a second friction component (second plastic foil, metal or similar). The tester can be used for all kinds of surfaces, which are exposed to smooth mechanical loads, e.g. friction with clothes or paper of office equipment, control units, or painted edges or buttons.

Wear Test, rig for determining of dynamical characteristics of cole brushes on metal surfaces. Small cole brushes as used in electrical motors are tested.

Following measuring values are determined:

- Contact voltage drop at cole brushes charged with current

- Friction coefficient of cole brushes against steel

- Current distribution of the brushes

- Temperature of the steel

- Velocity of the steel
